Call for C21/BACLS Panel Proposals

Call for C21/BACLS Panel Proposals

Posted by Katie da Cunha Lewin on 2025-11-07

BACLS members are warmly invited to submit proposals for panels for the upcoming British Association for American Studies (BAAS) and British Association of Modernist Studies (BAMS) conferences in collaboration with the Modernist Studies Association.

The proposed panels would sit under the combined banner of BACLS/C21 and would act to bring together research on contemporary literary studies (broadly understood) which intersects with each conference’s stated focus and contexts. It is hoped that the panels will both highlight developments in these intersecting fields and bring the work of BACLS and C21 to a wider, international audience. Further details of the specific conferences and their areas of focus for 2026 can be found below.

British Association of American Studies - University of Glasgow 9-11 April 2026

Modernist Studies Association - Loughborough 1-4 July 2026

Proposals should include:

- Speaker names, affiliations, and a short professional bio.
- A brief rationale for the panel topic and composition.
- Titles and brief abstracts for each proposed paper.

Proposals should be submitted in the first instance Proposals and any enquiries should be submitted in the first instance to Dr Katie Da Cunha Lewin and Dr Kiron Ward by Friday 21 November.

Proposers of panels selected to go forward as C21/BACLS endorsed will be provided with support in the composition of their formal proposal to the conference committee.
